Original era manufacture. French, 40 mm bronze medal, honoring the memory of Adolph Pegoud, who became the world's first acknowledged Fighter Ace during WWI. He is credited with 6 aerial victories, he was shot-down and killed 31 August 19l5. The medal resides in it's original box, and is marked on the obverse with the artists name, J.P. Legastelois (1855-1931), and on the edge stamped bronze.
