Original era manufacture. The set includes an officers pattern kepi, of a pale blue wool covered body, red wool top and silver wire decoration for the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. On the front of the kepi, is an embroidered silver wire bursting bomb for school. Scattered minor mothing, with the hat being quite sound, and not crushed or broken. Complete black silk lining with a black leather sweatband, size, about a US 7, or 57.A well-worn khaki wool, officers pattern tunic, with a closed collar and four exterior patch pockets.The cuffs display rank insignia for a 1st Lieutenant, and on the collar, elongated diamonds of black wool, with embroidered gold wire 3's, and two inverted chevrons. Domed silver washed buttons throughout. Size about a 38.The tunic exhibits considerable wear and use, with scattered mothing and an L-shaped tear on the reverse of the lower left sleeve. The ends of thecuffs show considerable wear and fraying, and the silk-lined interior displays numerous repairs and old tears, but is otherwise completeThe set also includes an officer quality, brown leather Sam Browne Belt with shoulder strap and a leather mapcase, which has a plastic map protector inside, set with a small compass. Inside the mapcase is a nickel alloy Identity disc, with a steel linked wrist chain. The belt is quite sound, the mapcase exhibits considerable wear. Not shown in our photos, but included, is a long sleeved, issue quality, pale greecotton shirt with a tan cottontie.The set exhibits wear and use, butrepresents nicelythe appearance of a French Army Officer at the time of the outbreakof war in September of 1939.
