German 1870 Miniature Iron Cross and Ribbon, 2nd Class

Original era manufacture. An interesting miniature medal which awakens my childhood memories. I am not quite sure what this is exactly, as it may be a toy from the late 1950's-early 1960's. I remember similar medals when I was young, particularly the Iron Cross, they were available at our local Five & Dime, next to the Marx series or toys soldiers "Warriors of the World". At any rate, the cross measures 23 x 23 mm, made of darkened bronze with a blackened obverse, with a ribbon which does not fluoresce under a UV light. Anybody else know what this represents?
