Original era manufacture. This is a great, vintage card carried on the Airship Hindenburg on her May flight from Chicago to Frankfurt. Numerous stamps and cancellations have been applied to the front, with a single cancellation on the reverse. Zeppelin LZ 129 Hindenburg made 17 trans-atlantic trips in 1936, 10 to the USA and 7 to Brazil. Her final flight was exactly one year later from Frankfurt to Lakehurst New Jersey. On May 6 1937, while in the process of mooring, the Hindenburg burst into flame and crashed to the ground with a loss of 36 lives.
