Original era manufacture. A well made, service quality sidearm with an unadorned blade. Measures 25 inches in overall length, with a plain 16.5 inch bayonet type blade. Brass clamshell langet with deer-foot guard and a heavy brass lion head pommel. Horn grip plate on each side. Brass mounted black leather scabbard with sound stitching. The blade has an even steel patina finish, free of corrosion issues, but displaying an old attempt at improvement with the use of a grinding wheel near the base of the blade. I wonder what was so offensive to that previous owner as the remainder of the blade is nice. The scabbard fits the blade properly length-wise but may not be the original scabbard to the blade.
