Original era manufacture. Thirty inch, very curved, polished steel blade, with etched engraving on each side displaying the coat of arms of the city of Hamburg.I believe at one time the etching was gilded, as traces of the gilt remain in the recess of the Hamburg crest. The blade runs straight and true with no real corrosion issues, but does display series of nicks in the cutting edge.Lion head, gilded brass guard which has had its two langets removed, apparently done a long while ago. Fish skin wrapped grip, with exposed wood core showing under the pommel, and nowire binding remaining. All brass, double ring scabbard, with a very clever and period done repair to the scabbard body, just above the drag. Typical denting to the soft brass surface. An overall sound old sword, displaying lots of service use.
