Original period manufacture. Ok, admittedly this is a bit odd to find offered for sale on a Military Collectibles site, but frankly we found the quality and condition of this set to be hard to resist. The set consists of two fitted cases, one containing a carving knife, large fork with a folding rest and blade sharpener, the other smaller case contains eight matching steak knives. All of the items are fitted with an imitation stag grip (at least we think so, playing it safe here) with a very nice etched decoration in green and gold of deer and partridges. The condition is as new, the steak knives still have their paper protective sleeves intact. Each piece displays the makers name of a famous German edged weapon maker, Anton Wingen, Solingen, Germany. A really nice set and just the thing that a GI stationed in Postwar Germany would buy for the folks back home.
