Original period photography. A most interesting commercially produced image of four French prisoners and one of their German guards. At the bottom margin it is marked Magdeburg 25 October 1870. Above, in French, Souvenir of Captivity. I believe the French soldiers are artillerymen, and their German friend has a medal on his chest which may be the 1864 campaign cross. Mount measures roughly 4.5 x 6.75 inches. Light staining at the bottom. From our collection.
