Original era photography. A rather unusual CDV image of a German soldier, cradling a M1860 Fusilier Gewehr needle gun in his right arm. His hair-do is a bit odd, and he wears a pair of double striped trousers, a pattern I have not yet been able it identify. On the reverse of the image a Paris photographers logo may be seen, along with a (presumed) period inscription "J.Blech, Troyes 11 November 1870".One thought that came to mind, was that he may be wearing a pair of captured French trousers. Supplies were difficult during the siege, and the Prussian Crown Prince wrote of German soldiers having to resort to wearing articles of captured clothing in his memoirs.
