Original era photography. An interesting lot of two period CDV images of the same soldier, who served in an elite Garde Regiment zu Fuss, around the time of the Franco-Prussian war. The pair nicely illustrate the startling contrast between the hand applied colorized  process done by the photographer or an assistant, and the off-the-shelf version in black and white. Sitting on a table next to the subject is his 1860 model Pickelhaube complete with plume. Same photographers backmark on each.
