Original era manufacture. A scarce pattern bayonet which was designed for use with the M1860 Fusilier pattern Needle Gun.It is unit marked on the guard to Fusilier Regiment 34, and bears the issue markings of FW 64 on the blade ricasso and guard.Overall, measures 25 inches in length, with a quill-back blade, and brass grip.There is some light corrosion pitting on the guard and blade, with some scattered nicks to the cutting edge as well. With the early manufacture date, it may have seen service in the first war of German unification in 1864 against Denmark, but certainly during the 1866 war against Austriain addition to France in 1870-71.From our own collection.
