Original era manufacture. A very clean example with near matching regimental markings on the guard and scabbard throat.Polished steel blade measuring 19 inches in length, with evidence of old service sharpening on the cutting edge. Scattered areas of old cleaned corrosion, no deep pitting, with traces of the original surface polish remaining visible. Two piece brass guard and grip, with several original proof marks visible, unit marked 107. R. 7. 78, and on the scabbard throat 107. L. R. 1. B. 3. 116.Black leather bodied scabbard with a brass throat and chape, The leather is basically sound, with typical scuffing andflaking to the leather surface particularly on the scabbard edges. It is not weak or floppy, just normal age and wear.
