Original era manufacture. A very sound example of an army property marked Fusilier pattern officers sword, issued during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm I in 1882. Crown W 82 proof on the blade spine. Quillback, polished steel blade measuring 32 inches in length, running straight and true, and made by the firm of Weyersberg, Solingen. Gilded brass guard and pommel, with a fish skin wrapped grip with double twisted strand silver colored wire binding. On the reverse langet are two unit markings, 16.R.3, and 97.R.9.3, the topmost marking has been struck out when issued to IR 97. Crown proofs can be seen stamped into the underside of the guard, backstrap, and ferrule. The leather bodied scabbard fits the blade properly, and the stitching is sound and tight with a nice lustre to the leather surface. Crown proofs can bee seen on the chape, and scabbard throat.
