Original era manufacture. Brass handled bayonet adopted in 1871 for the new Mauser single shot service rifle. Marked Erfurt and Alex. Coppel on the ricasso, with a crown W 79 on the spine. Unit markings on the guard and scabbard throat but they do not match. Clean blade with no issues, sound black leather scabbard with brass throat and chape.
