Original period manufacture. A very fine quality sword which was sold by a retailer of the Royal House of Saxony, Gurtler of Dresden. High quality chromed steel blade, with a quill-back point, overall measuring 32.5 inches in length. The blade runs straight and true with a beautiful gilt decoration at the base featuring the Saxon coat of arms and the royal cypher with an Eisenhauer banner. Running my fingers along the edge I can feel a number of nail catchers and shallow nicks but they do not diminish the overall appeal of the blade in my opinion. Heavy cast brass gilt finish guard with a lionhead pommel. Fish skin wrapped grip showing cleaning material staining to the surfaces, bound with triple strand wire. Some of the wire has moved out of place on the grooves. Black painted surface on the steel scabbard, with both throat screws present, mix of paint and patina finish to the surface, scattered denting towards the drag.
