Original era manufacture. Plated steel blade by Eickhorn measuring 30 inches in length, running straight and true with no issues. Etched In Treue Fest slogan on each side of the blade. No corrosion issues, no nicks in the cutting edge. Ornate guard with a lion and shield on the obverse langet. Fish skin wrapped grip bound in triple strand wire. Black painted steel scabbard with a single suspension ring. Mix of original paint and post production touch-up. Minor denting along its length, with a really intriguing, hand-painted panel in black and white with a swastika on one side. Was this done after it came to the US after the war, or done by an enthusiastic German veteran who wanted to declare his allegiance. Who knows but it is not something that was recently done.
