Original era manufacture. An 1868 pattern Bavarian enlisted Raupenhelm, made with the two crown ventilators on each side of the comb. Formed leather body, with a removable lambswool comb and a crown and Ludwig cypher on the front, without a crown. Brass bound leather visors, brass lion head boss on each side which hold the black leather adjustable chinstrap in place. Above the left side lion boss is a painted cockade in the colors of Bavaria, blue and white. The liner is complete and pliable, the comb looks to have been recovered a long while ago with animal fur, showing fur loss on the rear from the attentions of insects. Sound helmet overall.
