Original period photography. A commercially produced image of His Imperial Majesty, Friedrich Wilhelm likely taken in 1888 the year he ascended the throne, and the year of his untimely death from throat cancer. Excellent detail in the image, taken by the Royal House Photographer, Heinrich Graf, Berlin. The gilded lettering at the bottom of the mount proclaims the image to be Friedrich, Deutscher Kaiser u. Konig, the throne of which was his after the death of his father, Kaiser Wilhelm I. The year 1888 became known as the year of the three Kaisers, when Wilhelm II was crowned that same year. During the 1870-71 War, then Kronprinz Friedrich Wilhelm commanded the III Army in the early months, and later the Siege of Paris. From our collection. The gilt-edged mount measure 4.25 x 6.50 inches.
