Original period photography. A clear CDV image of a proud young soldier and his new 1871 pattern rifle. Black leather equipment straps, the hilt of his Fallschirmmesser is visible. Inked details on the reverse provide his name and date of death in 1896. There is a period error as well, as the image date is given as 1870, he was only 12 years old at the time!
