Item #65968 : Original era manufacture. These two large scale mounted composition figures represent an officer and a NCO flag bearer of a Guard Artillery regiment prior to 1914. Each figure stands about 5.5 inches in height from the bottom of the wooden base to the top of their kugelhelm. Hand painted decoration throughout, possibly of Elastolin manufacture, the underside of the bases are not marked. Each rider can be removed from his steed, securely sitting astride their mount by means of a small metal rod which fits in the saddle. The flag is also hand painted on thin metal, showing great care and detail. It is my opinion that these figures have been restored/enhanced at some point in the past using original figures as a base, the result being a handsome pair of figures which would enhance any collector shelf, particularly in a setting with period era spiked helmets.
