Original era manufacture. This well used, but excellent quality old sword cost the original owner a good sum of money back in the day. The 31 inch steel blade runs straight and true until the last inch and a half were a sizeable tweak to the steel occurs. The finish has scattered staining and discoloration to its surface, with several scattered nicks in the cutting edge.At the base of the blade are three areas of fire gilded decoration, on the obverse, the words DAMASTSTAHL and an Imperial eagle, on the spine, Mohr & Speyer Berlin, and on the reverse Eisenhauer and a floral pattern. Brass single branch guard, backstrap and pommel, with a fishskin wrapped grip bound with triple strand wire.Under magnification you can see the Damascus pattern in the blade steel, but it is faint.
