Original era manufacture. Heavy basket hilted sword with a polished quill-back steel blade measuring 34 inches in length. It runs fairly straight and true, with a slight bend to the left about two inches from the point. There is an intelligent service sharpening to the cutting edge, Weyersberg marked ricasso. Crown W 85 on the spine. The massive steel guard displays evidence of two different unit markings, one of which has been stamped out, the other appears to be H.K. B or D. 5..Ribbed painted leather grip in sound condition, with a dark steel patina finish to the back strap and pommel.Matching finish steel scabbard with a single carrying ring, which also displays numerous unit markings, the visible example being 14. A.F.1.H or II. No surface denting to speak of.
