Original era manufacture. Handsome old sword, with a 32 inch plain steel blade, which runs straight and true.The blade exhibits a glossy surface, but shows evidence of old cleaned corrosion and light pitting, with a few shallow nicks in the cutting edge.Very ornate cast brass guard with a crowned fouled anchor and W cypher cast into the knuckle bow, with the quillon design being that of an octopus. The opposite side folds down for ease of wear for the owner. The lack of a Roman numeral II on the W, may indicate use prior to 1888 when Wilhelm II came to the throne.Bone grip with no issues and bound with triple strand brass wire. Lion headed pommel with the classic Navy style glass eyes in red and green.No scabbard.
