Original era manufacture. A walking out quality M1871 bayonet with a 21 inch steel blade, displaying an etched design on both sides of the blade and spine. WKC proof mark on the ricasso. The blade is clean with scattered areas of staining and old cleaned light corrosion pitting in the recesses. Red felt bumper at the base of the blade, with a nickel alloy S-shaped guard, and brass grip. The locking spring is present but is for decoration only. The blade fits easily into a black leather bodied scabbard which has nickel alloy fittings. I do not believe the scabbard is correct for this model bayonet but it fits properly.
