Original era manufacture. We have owned this cap for almost two years now, never really knowing what type of unit it belonged too. Well it's time has finally arrived for listing on our site, and something had to be done. I turned to Tony Schnurr's outstanding website, Kaiser's Bunker for help. There in the section on cloth headgear it was, Army Feldpost, the postal service of the Imperial Army. Private purchase quality enlisted cap of dark blue wool with orange piping at the top, and a double stripe orange band with a black center stripe. The cap band is sewn directly to the body of the hat, it is not removable, there is no evidence of a visor ever having been installed. Orange cotton lining, with a brown painted canvas sweatband. There are some scattered moth bites to the piping, very minor, and none in the body or band, overall the hat is quite clean, and not crushed or distorted. There is an enlisted pattern, national korkarde at the top, however the bottom korkarde is a replacement. All in all I would think this old hat to be rather scarce and unusual.
