Original era manufacture. Ceramic stein with a pewter lid. Three dimensional decorated body with military scenes and slogans. Named to Reservist Garschhamer, who served in the 97th Infantry Regiment 1903-1905. Minor finish wear, no cracks or chips. The soldier is pushed back a bit as shown. I have read where using warm water and a little pressure these can be carefully straightened. Nice stein overall. Update, May 31st, 2022. Well we tried our own advice and we straightened out the soldier on top considerably. Using a small pot of water brought to a boil, I carefully poured the inside of the lid full of water, let it set for 30 seconds or so, in order to get the lid nice and hot. I then drained the water, and taking a small cloth for insulation, carefully applied pressure to the soldier, and voila! he began to move. I didn't force it, and when I felt the metal "tighten up" I relaxed. I repeated this process three more times, each time taking it easy with the pressure. The end result is that he is almost back to the original position when he left the factory over a hundred years ago. The metal didn't tear or fracture, and is now as rigid as ever.
