Original era manufacture. Heavy, basket hilt sword, Solingen mfg. The massive polished steel blade measures 34 inches in length, with evidence of an old service sharpening along its length. Surface staining from age but no real corrosion issues. The blade runs straight and true. Marked on the spine, Crown FW 65. Thick black leather bumper at the base of the heavy basket steel guard with a dark steel patina finish. Black leather wrapped, ribbed grip in sound condition.Heavy steel scabbard with a single carrying ring, and a mix of blue and steel patina finish. Unit marked below the throat; R.P.C.24.27, with another unit marking marked out below. Scattered denting along its length, without any real corrosion issues. Very sound 1866 & 1871 war era sword.
