Original period manufacture. Oversize cap tally measuring nearly 14 feet in length. Embroidered in gold color thread are numerous patriotic and congratulatory slogans along with a ships name SMS Oldenburg. Metal Imperial crown, ribbons and anchors, in addition to the numbers 10 and 13, those being the years of his service I believe, 1910-1913. For the most part the ribbon is intact, with two spots were the fabric has almost separated. SMS Oldenburg was a Helgoland Class Dreadnought, joining the fleet in May 1912. She served throughout WWI including the Battle of Jutland. Surrendered to Japan in late 1918, she was sold for scrap in 1920.
