Original era manufacture. An interesting sword with little information on it's heritage. Possibly of Brazilian use, and attributed to artillery units. Chassepot pattern blade with Alcoso scale proof on the ricasso. Overall the blade is clean with minimal spotting and staining. Dramatic S-shaped steel guard with flat sides, the reverse being marked 240, A.G.R.J. in stamped numbers and letters. Deeply ribbed brass grip. Black leather bodied scabbard with sound stitching, brass throat and chape. Normal age and wear.
