Original era manufacture. Full length gold wire embroidery on a black silk cap ribbon. SMS Schleswig-Holstein was a pre-dreadnaught class of battleship commissioned into the German Navy in 1905. During WWI she fought in the Battle of Jutland where she was struck by a shell. She was one of the few ships allowed to Germany after the Versailles Treaty where she served as a cadet training ship. In late August 1939 Schleswig-Holstein was moored in the port of Danzig, where on the morning of September 1 1939 she fired on Polish positions and is considered to have fired the first shots of WWII. She became a target ship for the Soviet Navy after the end of WWII.
