Original era manufacture. A private purchase example, with red wool Brandenburg cuffs, piped in white wool and gold brocade trim on the collar and each cuff. Dark blue body with long skirt and a full complement of Tombac buttons throughout. Simple white linen body lining and brown cotton lining in the skirts. This pattern coat was made without a skirt opening or vent, however many were modified in 1895, but having the rear skirt split to conform to the new regulations. Such is the case with this coat, you can see where it has been modified with skirt pockets added. I purchased this coat many years ago at the SOS Show in Louisville, it was on display in my collectors room serving as an example of a Franco-Prussian War pattern waffenrock. The left chest of the coat displays an L-shaped tear, this occurred when I was attempting to remove the M1841 needle gun from the manniquin's hands, and the front sight caught the fabric and tore it. Blast!!!! Well...it seems rather poetic in a way. When I purchased the tunic it was without shoulder straps. I found these 19th regiment straps online (later pattern) but never installed them. No moth issues to report, just evidence of long service wear and use. The lining at the ends of the cuffs shows wear and some fabric loss, but all in all great for display. Early pattern coats like these are difficult to find in any condition, and most found will have the '95 modification. Size is about a 38 long. ****Please note, the 1860 pattern helmet is not included, but can be purchased separately from our sight****
