Original era manufacture. Massive service bayonet adopted for use with the 1871 service rifle. Crown W 74 on the spine, faint makers name on the ricasso. The blade is quite clean, unsharpened, with a nice luster to the surface, no corrosion issues. Unit marked on the steel crossguard 124.R.15.133. (6th Wurttemberg Infantry regiment King Wilhelm I, Nr 124).Brass grip with a mellow patina and operable lock button and spring. Black leather bodied scabbard with sound stitching. Ball tip on the scabbard is intact. Original black leather frog with an 1890 date on the reverse. The body of the frog is quite fragile, which makes checking the scabbard throat for matching unit numbers very difficult. The blade and scabbard fit together just fine. One of my all-time favorite bayonets.
