Original era manufacture. Quill back blade maker marked Haenel on the ricasso, and Crown W 06 on the spine. Even steel patina finish to the blade, with scattered areas of age mottling. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with unit markings on the guard, 137.R.7.23, original finish wooden grips displaying normal age and wear. Correct style leather bodied scabbard, with a steel throat and chape. Unit markings on the scabbard throat 180.R.11.79. There is a crease in the leather just above the chape, This crease prevents the blade from seating properly in the scabbard, leaving a 5 mm gap between the top of the throat and guard.
