Original era manufacture. German ET64 marked, lot number 589, M1942 pattern steel helmet with a high-gloss black over-paint, and terrible replica German Army decals placed on the wrong sides of the helmet. Originally issued to the Wehrmacht during WWII, where it's original owner found himself posted for service in Norway. The helmet and soldier were surrendered in 1945 to the Allies, the Landser sent to a POW camp, and his helmet reissued by the Norwegian military. Repainted green, likely with Norwegian Lion decals installed. The helmet kept it's original WWII German liner, but that was dyed brown by Norway, with a Norwegian manufactured chinstrap installed. In the 1970's thousands of these now surplus helmets were imported into the USA, where many were "improved upon" with varying degrees of talent like this one.
