Original era manufacture. Adopted in 1953 for the newly formed German Border Guard units. Rough texture finish in a forest green color. Complete with original leather liner, marked MADE IN GERMANY, indicating that this was commercially exported at some point. The ends of the leather chinstrap remain on the strap loops, the remainder of the strap is long gone. The helmet represents another chapter in the amazing story of the German Stahlhelm.
