Original era manufacture. A very clean example featuring a very tall band and body with a tiny visor, and a single, ornate cockade in the Bavarian colors of silver and blue. Photographic evidence of hats of this shape and style of this pattern hat can date back to the time of the Franco-Prussian War, however, they were worn in later years as well. Nice old purple cotton chintz lining, with a Germersheim retailers name in the crown. Thin leather sweatband, which is a bit loose at the front, as is the visor.The hat is very clean, nice thick piping, with no moth issues or the body being crushed or broken.
