Original era manufacture. Black wool body & band, with red wool piping. Saxon reserve officer cockade on the front, without a national cockade which was only authorized after 1897. No moth issues, the visor is securely sewn to the hat body. The oilcloth sweatband is sound, showing minor wear and use, with a brown oilcloth lining and a printed silver makers name and logo. Original cardboard storage box showing a matching makers name to the hat.
