Original period manufacture. 1st pattern bayonet with a one piece wood grip, unit marked guard, 19.R.4.88, and made by Erfurt. Variant black painted, one piece steel scabbard which is made with faux vertical lines in the body to appears as leather. Overall the blade is clean, minor scattered staining to the surface, no sharpening or corrosion issues. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, operable lock button. The scabbard is dent-free and retains about 40% of it's original black paint finish. Scarce bayonet.
