Original era manufacture. German pre WWI manufacture S98/05 bayonet made by Simson, Suhl. Saxon proofed crown 11 on spine, unit marked on the guard, 7.T.2.99, Saxon Telegraph Battalion, Nr. 7, 2nd Company, 99th Weapon. The metal portions have an even steel patina finish overall, just typical service wear. Original finish wooden grips, with a sizable piece of wood missing from the left side below the pommel. No flash guard as is correct for these early production bayonets. Intact and properly fitting, leather bodied scabbard with steel throat and chape. Scarce pattern bayonet from an even more scarce unit.
