Original era manufacture. An officers pattern sword, which is army property marked with a Crown W 10 on the top of the blade spine, and maker marked on the ricasso. Alex.Coppel Solingen. The curved, polished steel blade measures 33 inches in length with a clipped point. It is in original polish, and runs straight and true, with a very light service sharpening to the cutting edge. Heavy cast brass guard and pommel with a fish skin wrapped grip, bound with two strands of silver colored wire. The all steel scabbard has a very nice blue steel finish, with a pinch to the surface about 2/3rds down the length towards the chape. This causes the sword to be a bit difficult to draw, but pinched, or bent, scabbards were a common mishap to mounted pattern swords. There are crown proofs stamped into several places on the guard, and a single crown proof on the scabbard drag. The number 11 is stamped onto the reverse langet, and scabbard throat.
