Original era manufacture. Brass handle bayonet with a bright finished blade measuring 570mm at present, book references a length of 575mm, likely lost a bit of the point over the years. The blade is bright and clean with evidence of old cleaned corrosion pitting. Maker marked on the obverse ricasso GEBR.WEYERSBERG, and on the reverse SOLINGEN. A similar example is illustrated on page 44 in Klaus Lubbe's book, "German Sidearms & Bayonets 1740-1945", Nieman publishing. A year 2000 valuation lists 1250.00 USD. No scabbard.
