Original era manufacture. A heavy, well made helmet, displaying the modifications adopted after the Franco-Prussian War 1870-71. The helmet is quite sound, visors are tightly sewn, no extra holes behind the wappen, and the leather finish is not chipped or flaking. The original liner is intact with no issues, and remains very pliable. Proper two ventilator hole spike stem, instead of the 5 hole pattern adopted in later years. Circular spike base, with a brass rear spine proper for the 71 model helmet.The issues with the helmet are as follows, the right side wappen screwpost is missing its attaching nut, and the single cockade (only one being worn is proper for this model) in the colors of gold and red for Baden is a later, smaller pattern. A nice solid helmet from our own collection.
