Original era manufacture. White porcelain bodied stein with a lithopane bottom and hand decoration to the colorful transfer. Pewter top with two infantrymen, one helping his wounded comrade. The lithopane bottom has been pierced, a sign that the original owner died and the piercing of the bottom prevented anyone else from drinking from it. The hole is quite small and a neat repair has been done so it can used if you like. We have a Lancer Regiment stein in our own collection which also has been pierced in this way.
