Original era manufacture. An interesting example of a private purchase, summer weight hat, as worn by a Bavarian artillery, or technical officer prior to WWI.As was the fashion in those days, this hat is rather taller than what is normally encountered in the era; measuring 6 inches from the lower edge of the visor to the top of edge of the hat.The sides are made from a lightweight cotton, with a wool top, piped in red wool, with a black velvet cap band. The oilcloth lining is in the top of the hat, which displays both the makers logo, and Munich retailers name.Molded fiber visor, with a brown leatherette sweatband. Light age and wear.
