Original era manufacture. This lovely old sword bears the name of the firm Clemen & Jung of Solingen on the reverse ricasso, and on the obverse, the mark of the Royal Bavarian arsenal at Amberg. The sword features a 35.5 inch blade, running straight and true, and on the base of the spine issue markings of a crowned L, and year date of 94. On each side of the blade, about midway down its length, are etched panels bearing the Bavarian motto of In Treue Fest. The blade finish is clean, original polish, with zero corrosion issues or nicks.Very nice brass three branch guard, back strap and pommel, with a coppery hue to the finish. Fish skin wrapped grip with triple wire binding.Very nice blue steel finish scabbard with near 100% of the finish remaining intact. Both throat screws are present, and there is a single suspension ring, which is mounted directly to the scabbard body. There are a few very minor dents in the scabbard body, nothing serious, and overall the scabbard is gorgeous. Overall this is a beautiful 122 year old sword, man I'd like to keep this, but our dogs and cat need cookie treats.
