Original era manufacture. Long, 34 inch, piped back, combat weight blade with a bright chrome finish. Gilded brass lionhead hilt with a Garde Star on the right langet, crossed lances on the left. The hilt is quite interesting as it is pierced and threaded for a removable basket guard which is now missing. This feature allowed the officer a choice when wearing this weapon. Nice sharkskin wrapped grip with triple wire binding. There is a brass securing pin which passes through the backstrap which is missing, so the backstrap will come off in your hand, shouldn't be a big repair. The scabbard displays a chrome finish with brass bands and suspension rings and is dent free. Nice old sword.
