Original era manufacture. Chrome plated 35 inch steel blade with blued and etched panels on each side. The blade is fairly straight with just the hint of a bend near the tip. The finish is a salt-pepper speckling of old surface corrosion, pretty much along the entire length on both sides. However the blued panels remain quite clear as you can see from Terri's pictures. No maker mark on the ricasso however a Berlin retailers name is on the spine. The leather bumper is in place. Nice brass basket guard and pommel with a fishskin wrapped grip with twisted wire binding. At the time of our purchase this sword was without a scabbard. We dug through out pile of spares and found a very nice blue steel example that fits very well. The length is near perfect and the blade doesn't rattle around too much. A decent old sword from one of the premier German cavalry regiments.
