Original era manufacture. Curved steel, quillback blade which measures 35 inches in length. Etched panels on each side, on the obverse it reads, Oscar Scherrin, 4.Comp.Garde Train Batallion. Lots of issues with the plated surface with some fairly severe cleaned corrosion towards the point. Plated finish basket guard with a hard rubber grip bound with twisted brass wire. Black painted steel scabbard, typical light denting and cleaned corrosion to the surface. There is a piece of white adhesive with the number 1 written on it. This was the first sword our friend purchased back in 1973. When he stopped buyingaround 2005, his numbering system was near 700, and that was only the swords. The bayonets were close to a thousand. That's quite a collecting accomplishment for anyone....
