Original era manufacture. An outstanding example of a private purchase NCO, One Year Volunteer waffenrock as worn by a soldier serving in the Garde Jager Battalion. Green doeskin wool tunic, with matching material red wool cuffs, straps and collar, gold NCO lace, and yellow litzen. Full complement of tombak buttons, with the strap buttons displaying the company number, 3. Full black silk lining, with striped cotton sleeve material. Black/white strap piping indicting the wearer as a member of the One Year Volunteer program.Presentat the time of our purchase, is the original, second level marksmanship lanyard attached to the left shoulder. There is a small plastic button on underneath the strap for attachment, however the upper loop has broken and a previous owner pinned the loop end in place. The best feature of this beautiful tunic is the Jager pattern 1912 dated Kaiserpreis mounted to the right sleeve. Quite a rare pattern in its own right, asthis pattern was only awarded to other Jager battalions, instead of the crown and crossed rifles, or cannons, awarded to infantry and artillery. The prize was mounted onto the sleeve, prior to the installation of the lining, and has been in place for over 100 years.Overall the tunic is very clean with bright colors, and haven't located any moth damage on this old tunic. The only minor flaws to report are, thetop edge stitching of a black cotton collar lining has loosened a bit, and a seam in the body lining has also opened up about four inches. That's it...other than the 1860 pattern Garde Tschako is only for display, andnot included in the price.
