Item #69009 : Original period manufacture. Private purchase dark blue wool coat with 8 tombak buttons down the front, 3 on each Brandenburg pattern cuff and six on the tail. White wool shoulder straps with a red embroidered 2 on each, black wool cuffs and collar, both with silver nco lace. On each collar is a gilt rank button decorated with the Bavarian lion, and each strap a gilt button displaying the battery number 11. Red silk body lining with a rather decorative period sleeve lining. I believe that both the body and sleeve linings are period done replacements, perhaps when the soldier earned his NCO status. Above the left cuff is a nicely embroidered yellow bursting bomb insignia, indicating his position as a Richtkannonier, or Gun Layer. The silver NCO tape has loosened overtime and will need to be tacked down again. The body of the coat has areas of moth damage, on the lower left front corner of the tail, with a four inch abrasion on the back of the right shoulder and on the lower right front edge of the coat hem. The colors are vibrant and overall the coat is very clean, just needs a little sprucing up.
